2019 State Relay Day

This report has been provided by Dennis Thring, Northern Districts Team Manager (Senior Aths):

The Northern Districts Jets had a very successful day at the Athletics South Australia State Relay Day which was held on Saturday 23rd November 2019.

NDAC had 46 athletes competing on the day, these athletes competed in 37 different relays across the U14, U16, U18 & Open age groups. There were 20 track relays, 12 throws relays and 5 jumps relays. All athletes gave their all for their club and the respective teams that they were in. There were many teams that made it onto the podium on the day and a number of new club records also were recorded.

The Jets athletes certainly lived up to the expectation of us doing well as a multi-disciplined club whether running, jumping or throwing. The teams that made it onto the podium are listed below:

 

Let’s start with the jumps teams….

Amazingly all 5 of our jumps teams medalled. 1 gold, 2 silver & 2 bronze

U18 Women Jumps Gold: Kiara Searle, Emma Cotgrove, Jade Walas
U16 Men Jumps Silver: Tyler Sparkhall, Ewan Fraser, Liam Jones
U14 Men Jumps Silver: James Stirling, Ayden Colbourne, Will Manuel
U14 Women Jumps Bronze: Bronwyn Boal, Lily Sparkhall, Tatum Giles
Open Men Jumps Bronze: Jack McMillan, Cam Rudge, Ryan Dorrian

11 of our 12 teams also medalled. 4 Gold, 4 Silver, 3 Bronze and a 4th place

On the track

6 of our 20 teams made it to the podium. The track events were mostly very large fields and fiercely competitive, so this was a great effort. 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 4 bronze and unluckily five 4th place finishes.

U18 Women Swedish Bronze: Aleisha Coolen, Jade Walas, Emma Cotgrove, Amelie Burns
U16 Women 4x200m Bronze: Emma Jones, Ashlyn Sobey, Amelie Burns, Kiara Searle
U18 Men 4x400m Bronze: Tyler Sparkhall, Shaun Burke, Blake Del Medico, Jack McMillan

What wonderful results by the NDAC Jets State Relay teams, above and beyond again. Great efforts by all teams whether this year yielded medals or not, it was very evident that every athlete gave 100% for their club. Go Jets!
